i think messages without proper punctuation are hard to read it may be dead or it may not be dead but in our experience mostly they are dead but i cannot tell as you did not include a photo so i cannot see the status you should not soak them did you get guidelines what species did they say it is supermarkets don't sell bonsai but mallsai

Soaking the roots may be the cause of the problem as it promotes root rot. I'm not sure who told you to prune or why you did it, but that probably won't have helped.

Didn't work. Check the message you get and take the appropriate action. Probably the image is too big.
