Seedlings - When should I pot them? was created by ryanstiner

I was gifted 2 sesbania formosa and 4 acacia floribunda plants. I have no idea how old they are or when I should try to move them into a shallow pot. The tallest one is around 6 inches ... can someone help?

When to put them in dhallow pots? Think about it in the next 10 years. The whole idea of the shallow pot is not the look, but to slow down the growth of the tree. Put them out on the sun, water them and repot in 4 years in larger pots.

Nope. It IS the look and it is NOT to slow down the growth of the tree.

ok - so what do you suggest I do? Is that advice something I should follow, in your opinion? Should they stay crowded together for another year or two - or should I repot into large or shallow containers for each?

Thanks!

What winter said. You have 10 years or more to think about it. These seedlings will need lots of growth first.

When you do repot them, do it in spring, cut the tap roots and comb out the remaining roots, starting from the centre and moving outwards. Make sure the trees are healthy before you do this, though.
