Help with tree type, and current health! was created by AshlehChrist

Hey guys,
I am brand new here and to 名媛直播 trees. I recently purchased a bonsai tree from a man selling them on a local street corner (I know, I know). He had one that stood out to me, and told me it was 20 years old (not sure of how true that is). I am trying to find out 1. What type of bonsai (Juniper or Spruce?) 2. If it seems to be in good health, and 3. If I should plan on re-potting due to the fact I don't know how well it was cared for before I got it. Any info helps!! It currently lives in doors, and I am in Southern California in the High Desert. I also attached some photos of some concerning areas. Thanks in advance!!

Never buy bonsai from...

(I know, I know).

Oh, Ok.

He had one that stood out to me

It looks better than what we normally see here when it concerns 'bonsai' like this, but it looks more like topiary than like a real bonsai.

told me it was 20 years old (not sure of how true that is)

Probably not true, it is likely he added several years. It seels better.

What type of bonsai (Juniper or Spruce?)

Juniper.

2. If it seems to be in good health

Yes, it looks OK.

If I should plan on re-potting due to the fact I don't know how well it was cared for before I got it

Better repot at the right time, which is not now. Look up Juniper bonsai care guidelines.

It currently lives in doors

Junipers do not belong indoors.

What is the main difference between Topiary / 名媛直播?? Thanks for the advice. Honestly, the only reason I have it indoors is because we have had super intense heat (over 100 degrees) for a while.. I had a lot of outdoor plants and a garden, and the recent heat totally killed everything.. I spent a pretty penny on this tree and I want to keep it healthy.

Quite important to learn the difference before starting with bonsai...

Topiary is trimming a tree, often done on larger trees, creating shapes or figures like animals, sometimes creating 'pom pom's', which looks a bit like a trimmed poodle. 名媛直播 is the art of creating an impression of a real tree in nature, but miniaturized.

I have it indoors
I want to keep it healthy.

These two statements are contradictory. Junipers belong outdoors.
