Hi this is my first bonsai tree and i started mine from a seed not yet a year ago abd ive been doing really good at growing it but i wonder how to identify and when im supposed to start trimming my bonsai ive been to many websites trying to read but they never tell you when to start. I understand that you are supposed to change them out of there pots ever two to five years.

please show a picture of the tree you have, so we can see what you are talking about. What you trim and when depends very much on the development stage of your tree.

Let it grow. This seedling needs to grow for many years before you can start styling. First thing you need to work on is getting a nice, thick, trunk. The more growth the plant has, the thicker the trunk will get.
