Hi,
I got my bonsai plant a few months ago and it's been doing fine. Today I noticed it was turning slightly yellow and I can't figure out what's wrong with it. It gets enough water and sunlight. One thing I notice is there's sometimes bugs around it or in the water dish. They're extremely extremely small and black. There's nothing else wrong with my bonsai. I also don't know what type of bonsai it is. I can take another picture if needed. Thank you so much.

The species of the plant you have is Juniper. The reason it is not health is not so simple. The implication is that you have it inside, if you do that is the main problem.
The second is the tray underneath. the insects in the soil are harmless, but they are there because the soil or the watering regime is no good.
Look in the species identification section on the forum and you will find a lot more information.

It's a Juniper.
A picture of the whole tree might be useful. And one of the bugs if possible.
Is it inside or outside? If it's inside, move it out.
Double check on this website whether you're watering correctly.

from the posted picture I cannot tell something is wrong. If only the old needles, inside the tree, are turnin yellow: That is normal. As the branch grows, older needles are shedded. If needles are turnin yellow all over something else is wrong. Please post an image in daylight, without flash, an tell where how you keep it.

I'm sorry for the bad picture, it makes me cut down the picture my phone takes because it's too big. My bonsai is usually kept outside in a lot of sunlight, but i took it in when I saw the yellowing but I'll take it back out after I try to take more pictures. Thank you also for being able to identify it
Edit: I had to crop the pictures down again because they were too big.

still don't see yellowing, other then the dying of old needles. This plant looks perfectly healthy.

Thank you for all of your replies. I panicked because this is my first plant (other than cacti which are super easy) so I just wanted to make sure

Pretty much exactly the same as "bonsai"

Exactly. And I would say it is a bit unfair to be splitting hairs on semantics.
