Thanks in advance for any help. I have never owned a bonsai before, but have been given this specimen as a present. I wouldn't call it a bonsai yet, and it has been quite badly abused (look at how some of the branches have been cut!). Plus I think it may well be long overdue a repotting, as there are roots sticking out of the soil. It was also rather dry when I received it.
Could anyone help me work out what it is, and any suggestions for how to proceed towards making it beautiful again?
