I have about 6 pear trees and 7 sugar maples approx 5 inches tall. They are in very small pots to grow seeds. I live in Quebec Canada and winter is kind of hard here. Temperature drops below -20 C. How du I protect my little seedlings for the winter. Should I change their pots before winter? Thank you for your help.

Posted 8 years 6 months ago #22931Which, tree made it through, winter, is a common topic in the spring. Guess i did good, but, it was a mild winter, here.
It's good that you're planning for winter now, You can find all the odd things people do, then decide, what you would do.
The roots, are what we need to worry about.

Posted 8 years 6 months ago #22933Just remember that plants are supposed to be able to withstand all seasons, they've evolved to be that way for a billion years (so you could say that they're pretty good at it). That being said, some of the smaller ones may not survive purely because they're too weak.

Good luck reading all that,
