Donot worry about wind. Elms can pretty much handle our climate yearround. It might get a bit of damage initiallly, but will quickly grown leaves that do manage in the wind.

Do not baby it around, certainly do not put it in a greenhouse.

Here in Kent it is getting quite windy and the pot is being shifted by wind that's why I have the greenhouse so that the pot won't break and in night where temperatures get quite cold it has some sort heat .
Will it affect the Chinese elm if I have it in a greenhouse, it isn't really a proper greenhouse. Its the one in my message before this.

It needs to be outside, all year long.

Get a heavier pot.

Do you have trees around your house? Do they survive the wind?

A Chinese Elm is a subtropical and according to care sheets it shouldn't be outside during winter.

As in reference to the topic, would it be helpful to wire the tree to a base that is anchored tot he ground? So that it doesn't blow over. I'm not sure of your living conditions. Would this be a viable option?
I've noticed in search's on the web that some collections are wired tot heir pedestals. I'm thinking to keep the tree from being knocked over or moved.

Thank you all. I've put it outside now. The position I have put it in is so that it receives afternoon sun. Before it was sitting on a windowsill and receiving morning sunlight. Is there a specific transition that I need to do as I know sudden change in position can cause stress to my Chinese elm.
