Do outdoor species grow in the ground or in a pot? was created by rolex

Planning on visiting several Ontario nurseries and I have a question.

I've spent the good part of the day reading, and came across several blogs like this one and in the process I come across quotes from the experts such as

Growing anything inside is always going to be more difficult than outside.

Well, fine, that makes sense. But does "growing outside" require you to dig a hole and plant it in the earth? Or can it grow completely healthy and just as well inside a pot.

For instance, I have a fair sized backyard but it's mostly covered in interlocking bricks and patio furniture, barbecue, and so on. I don't have any kind of soil area or garden area.

What I do have, is many great surfaces to place a potted tree that get plenty of exposure to the sun and elements while still being able to appreciate the aesthetic properties. On a table top. On the barbecue shelving units. On or near the fence, and so on.

Would be nice to try my hand at an indoor plant (I'm thinking P. Afra?) and a couple outdoor plants, including my tiny tree from the world famous thread I posted yesterday

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for clarifying

名媛直播 grow very well in pots outside. All of mine live in them year round through all seasons.

Different species like different amounts of shade and sun. Check into what you've got, and place them where they'll thrive best.

Planting in the ground, as far as bonsai is concerned, is for growing a larger tree. Want a bigger trunk, taller tree, etc? Plant it and let it grow. Once you put it in the pot, the tree slows down. Then comes years of refining. Make sense?

Jade make good house plants, but I've only seen a few that looked close enough to bonsai. They're a succulent, which has growth patterns not well suited to the hobby. More accent plant than tree, really.

Try a few more junipers, they like the sun and can take a beating. Maples are rather hardy and a good deciduous starter. Chinese elm is, too. As said before, ficus are good for indoor or out. Try it out

Yes, but then no. You really don't need to dig a hole in the yard, of course generally, they grow faster in the ground. But then, you lose the advantage of, letting it sit there on the deck where you can see every leaf sprout, and twist the pot, so that leaf gets the most sun.

When You grow a tree in a pot, you have so much control of the roots. Every year, sometimes a couple times a year, depending, on the species, and your skill, you can dump it out, and play with the roots.

Then, again, if you plant it in the yard. You can run over it with the lawn mower, and let the kids trample over it. Actually, that makes for a nice tree, just don't over do the lawn mower part.

Jade trees... They break off really easily, then you can take the broken piece, stick it in some dirt, and get another jade. You can quickly, fill you house with those things like that.

(elms are the easiest)

You are confusing growing on young trees with bonsai. 名媛直播 are grown in pots. Hardy trees which almost all are must be kept outside, tender species need frost protection.

if you buy a young plant such as that young juniper, best is to plant it in the garden to let it grow and thicken up..

if you buy a starter/ pre-bonsai from a nurcery which already has some age and thickness, you can keep it in a bonsai or training pot..
