Ficus carica cannot be kept indoors. Look for fruiting trees in your garden centre. Variety brown turkey is frost resistent in coastal climates

try a Punica granatum
they can be kept indoors normally, although it's best to place them outside in summer

I've just taken some cuttings from my cotoneaster and they have taken pretty good if you know someone with it in their garden ask if you can take some cuttings.
