Could someone help I.D my tree please.

can't tell you the species.. but

- you seem to keep it indoors?
- the pot looks to be on your desk like that, so i imagine it doesn't have any drainage holes at the bottom?
- the tree seems to be in a heavy dark soil, which in conjunction with the above will cause the roots to rot and die..

your tree will probably die within the next few months if these items are not adressed..

What I can see from your plant is that it was not purchased from a bonsai nursery, but from a shopping center, or chain store like Wallmart, or maybe a garden center.

What did the label that was on it say that it was (don't say it said 'bonsai' please) ?

Ligustrum, I think. A focussed picture of the leaves would help.
