1. What type of tree is this?
2. I live in Brisbane, Australia. This is a really hot climate and for the past 4 months it's been 30 C everyday with little cooler change. I water my plant every 24 hours during these conditions, and if it rains roughly every 36 hours. I read that you shouldn't always keep the roots soaked so I allow a little time for them to dry and the 24 hour interval seems to work well as they just seemed to have dried. Is this the right approach?
3. As of the last month I have noticed the leaves are going brown from the inside. I'm not sure why and I'm really worried. I am hoping the tree is not sick and that the leaves are simply shedding and will eventuate into branches. Should I be concerned?
4. I keep him outside in an undercover patio area on a table. Is this ok or should I alternate him between the indoors and outdoors?
Thank you to the kind person who helps me.

That is something you should have figured out 4 months ago - as the care for the plant depends on what type of plant it is.
Other than that, this same type of tree is posted almost daily, and the same question is asked many times. Do some research. It's really not so hard to figure out what it is. Use the species guide on top of this page.

It's good to water a lot when its hot, to let it dry between waterings, and to water less when it rains. Seems you're doing OK, however, you shouldn't follow a schedule, but water when needed.

It is normal that older needles die off, so it is not an immediate reason for concern. It would be far worse if it were the tips that were going brown - but as far as I can see the tips are healthy and green. Do keep monitoring it though.

Nope. You're doing it right. This type of plant does NOT belong indoors.

That was quick... and yes, that's correct.
You guys do amazing things on this page
Guess you haven't read that much yet than. You may not like this page so much when you start asking questions about how to shape your juniper...

Vast majority of us are all born into this bonsai world naked and with no knowledge.
That comes with age as in life, but you have to learn.
Nearly every day on nearly every forum a question like this appears.
I had tons of them myself when I started last year.
You are the luckier one of people asking this question, it seems that you haven?t killed you "bonsai" in those four months.
My advice - you don?t have to ask every question that concerns you - you just type it to google and include word bonsai and I am sure it will give you many links to everything you want to know, cause everything has been asked or written already.
It is quicker way than waiting for replies on forums.
Or buy a book not older than some 10 years - nearly all of my questions were answered in Harry Harringtons 名媛直播 basics and 名媛直播 inspirations 1 and 2 - you can download kindle version right away and study it if you are serious about this amazing and calming hobby.
I wish you best of luck and may you and your little tree be happy

I am afraid tha tthe only thing you were sure of.. Is actually wrong.
But the actual age of a plant is not important in bonsai. It is the impression of age. A tree that is 10 years old, but looks like a 100 year old tree may be of more artistic value than the t5ee that is 100 years old, but looks like 10..

looks healthy
now that you know the species.. buy some bonsai books or google on "juniperus procumbens bonsai" or "japanese juniper bonsai"
by adding the words care, pruning, styling or other you will find loads of info..
good luck
good to see a beginner that actually managed to keep his tree alive this long.. keep at it, get to know your tree..
