I bought this bonsai from bjs but I'm not sure what type of bonsai it is can any one help as I would like to give it the proper care.

Ficus Gensing, they don't really make good bonsai, look around, you'll see what I mean.

Maybe if you put it in bigger pot, and treated it like a house plant, perhaps the top would catch up the trunk.
