First time poster, i just bought a bonsai and would like to confirm which species it is.

From what i can tell it might be a bird plum judging by the leaves.

It's not a bird plum it's actually a fukien tea , check it out you'll find it on this site .

You should really look up on what a bonsai really is .
This tree you bought is actually a mallsai ( a mass production fancy houseplant sold in malls )
A bonsai, on the other hand, is a potted tree that resembles a majestic old tree in nature, and is created with years and years of dedication and application of bonsai techniques.
