My first problem is finding out what kind of tree it is! It was bought for me with no card or information about it. I have provided a link to imgr with two photos of it. First of the leaves, and second, at the bottom of the tree, where i can see a stump and roots hanging out. I am not sure if this is something i should be concerned or need anything to do to help it.
Please help with identifying this tree for me and also any tips of caring and pruning of such would be greatly appropriated!
I can provide more image on request!
Thanks!!

Oh my... you've got lots to learn.

Ulmus Parvifolia

Look it up under the Species guide (top of the page).

I would agree that it is most likely a Chinese Elm after looking into it and watching a video, grey, brownish bark, thin branches and small teeth green leafs.
I have provided another link with a few more photos.
To me, the tree doesn't look very appeasing to the eye, it looks very messy at the moment and it kind of just free-styling and growing branches where ever it wants. Should I keep it for a few months before thinking about pruning and trying to shape it?
I have no idea what I would want to shape it like, but from what it currently looks like at the minute i was thinking something like this? I know its very bland but I am not sure how creative i could get with it / be able to personally do?
Any Suggestions for a 名媛直播 noob!?
Also, as mentioned before, is the stump at the bottom something to worry about? I can visibly see roots out of the soil and am not sure if it is a problem or not?

Yep.

Certainly. Learn all you can about this specific tree type. Follow a beginners course at a local club, next year follow an advanced class, and continue learning until you are ready for a masterclass. The next 20 years, train the tree using the learned techniques. At the end of these 20 years you may have something that looks a bit like that tree.
