Brush Cherry - New growth question was created by Jeffrey C Packard

Hello, I have yet another question. I received a Brush Cherry and so far its been holding up pretty well. My question is that some of the new growth appears to be a bit lighter in color and has a waxy sort of shine to it...is this normal? I've attached an image for reference.
As always, thanks for you help!

Yes.
Only if also the mature leaves are lighter do you have to increase your fertiliser.
You say it is doing well. I see deads tumps in the foliage...

It was apparently cut back pretty heavily prior to my purchase. Let me point out that this is an $8 mail order purchase. This is about as low grade, mass produced as it gets I think. But, just starting out and trying to learn, I wasn't about to drop good money into something I'd only end up killing due to lack of knowledge.

Good call. Better to practice on something easily replaced than to go all gung ho and kill an expensive tree.

By the way.. Check it for pests, scale & spider mites. The older leaves do not look perfectly well. Which is often a sign of an infection. Probably nothing, as the new growth seems ok. But do check, to be sure.

Thank you. So far I've not seen signs of pests. It arrived pretty stressed so I'm thinking this is just left over from that. I actually didn't think it would make it. The images are from 2 weeks ago right after I opened the package.

That looks like a nice tree for eight bucks. I want to get a starter and the brush cherry is looking pretty good. Good luck with this tree.

If that is how you got it, you should have sent it back. THat is no condition for a plant to arrive.
