what 名媛直播 do I have? was created by KimmiVincent

I have purchased 2 名媛直播 recently, these are my first 2 ever. Although both look different I am sure they are both Ficus 名媛直播. Can someone please confirm this for me and if anyone knows the actual specific 'species' that would be great. The box they came in said 'Indoor bonsai' and that was it. I have had them 3 weeks and they needed repotting straight away as roots were starting to come out of the soil and it was so compacted. I pruned away the extra long 'feeder' roots whilst still keeping some and put them both into new 名媛直播 soil. I also took this time to use a tree/fern pesticide on them as I saw some tiny fly like pests on them. I also reshaped the tree but only a small bit so there wasnt too much interference. I have them on my window sill which the sun gets to them about 2pm each day. They are in humidity trays which I mist throughout the day. I also have given them both a liquid feed. The leaves have become droopy even though I sense I am doing all the correct thing, but maybe with me not knowing the exact 'species' I might be doing something wrong. Can someone please help.

Thank you in advance

Kimmi

The second one (without the skull) is a fukien tea. Its not a species of ficus.

Your signature is:

"名媛直播 is for life, not just for Christmas" ?

Then why didn't you buy real bonsai, but the typical Christmas gift type mallsai?

Your two decorative plants are not Ficus. They are (as far as I can see, your photo's aren't great):

Ligustrum
[strike]Ulmus Parvifolia[/strike] Carmona (I can't see the leaf shape good enough)

I am doing all the correct thing

not knowing the exact 'species'

Thank you for taking the time to reply, all be it was quite negative and not very helpful. In all honesty my fiance bought me these as a gift as I always gushed over Bonai in films. he and I have never had 名媛直播 before, so as far as we are concerned this is a 'real' 名媛直播. The research I have done also suggests that any type of tree/fern type plant can be a bonsai, as long as you follow the rules to keep it small and aged looking, so I am quite confused as to the comments you are saying (Not just to me, Iv seen you reply to others in the forums and you are very rude to people - as if they are supposed to know what they are doing straight away). You could be helpful instead of negative please. Like I said I have done research online and the pictures lead me to beliueve these were ficus although I couldnt narrow it down to the actual type. If you have an idea that could be great. Iv included a pic of the leaves from both 名媛直播 so I hope this helps. Thank you in advance, I appreciate all the help as have fallen in love with my little tree babies

So, you've seen the other posts but still think that they're bonsai?
We know that we can seem a little bit harsh at times, but that's the best way of learning (probably).
The top one's definitely a carmona, I'm not too good at identifying ficus, though. How often are you watering them?

your a star thank you. Do you have any idea why it may be dying on me? Yesterday it was fine, today its gone droopy. 2 days ago I repotted it and gave it a pest treatment - do 名媛直播s go droopy just after a root prune and repot for a few days?

Ed thank you for recognising one of my 名媛直播, this helps me greatly. I am watering them every 2 days, as Iv researched that over watering them can kill them, yet leaving them bone dry can also kill them, so I thought every 2 days is the safest option. When I water them I take them outside for half hour so I let the water drain through instead of collecting and sitting in the pot. Is this OK?

It may have been too early to repot (It's hard to say, bonsai shouldn't be indoors - it messes up their biological clock) or you may not have pruned the roots properly (consider revising), the pesticide may have damaged it, you may have over-watered, you may have under-watered, you might be moving it around too much, it may have had a draft blowing cold air at it, it may have just given up on life because it's being kept indoors and no plant should be kept indoors.

So, how often have you been watering it? Have you moved it a round a lot? Check the area that you're keeping it in for drafts. Make sure that it is receiving adequate sunlight.

We get the same questions about the same mallsai over and over and over again. You believe these are good bonsai?
You believe FERN can be bonsai? You couldn't find what trees you have? Then you haven't done any real research.

I'm not that rude, just a bit annoyed and not much inclined to give long answers to questions I have seen too often.
I find your signature annoying too - semi bonsai wisdom from soneone who doesn't know bonsai  (NOW I'm being rude. See the difference?) This site has extensive information, including information to identify your tree. These are very standard types of mallsai, you could really have found the correct information yourself.

Thanks for the photo, it confirms it is what I said it is.

名媛直播Learner, thank you, I have indeed been moving it around as I was trying to get it in the best position for the sun in my house. I now have them on the window sill where it receives about 4 hours sunshine each day. Should I consider putting them outside in my garden, even though the weather is cold at the moment?
