Hello
I have two jumnipers that I don't quite know what to do with for the winter, my area is a zone 5 climate and the coldest temperature In winter is usually -15 and warmest usually 8. It is also very humid, damp and windy as I live near the coast of the Atlantic ocean. I've been putting my junipers in my shed when it gets cold to keep it safe from frost but my friend says to buy some mulch and mulch up to the first branch instead and put it under my balcony to protect from snow and wind we can get a few feet of snow that can last a few weeks). I just wanted some extra advice on what to do with them for the winter. One has a very small pot and is only small while the other's pot is five inches deep and is a bit bigger, I'll enclose some pictures to show the pots and the sizes so you guys can get a better idea of what to do to protect from frost and cold/dampness.

Junipers are a hardy species and need frost. They will easily withstand -10C and lower. There is no need to protect them.

I know that they are okay in that temperature, but would the roots be okay in a shallow pot such as mine In the pictures?

I've never had them last winter, so I posted to be sure if it was okay to do before it was colder, just to be on the safe side.
I also never had a chance to repot them out of the pots i bought them in, that's why their not great, I'll get the right mixture they need come spring. Thankyou for the concern anyway.
