Hello.
In the coming days, I'm going to dig up some hornbeams and I maybe have a big problem. I've searched the whole country for pots of ligth plastic and 30 + cm diameter, and believe it or not, in the whole Montenegro there aren't any but those of 22 cm diameter. Now, these hornbeams are about 30-40 cm high and trunks aren't fat, 10-12 cm girth perhaps. Could a 22 do?

If you have to dig them now then yes, they will have to be big enough. Is the weater cold enough now? By that I mean have the trees stopped growing? If not then it might be better to leaved them until it is colder and they are not likely to be growing. That would give you time to get some bigger pots also,

How about getting some wooden planks and making your own 'pots' ?

I've had thought of it Auk, but I can't get enough planks now to make 15 of those Cold it is not hah, it's been 20 degrees C in the noon for days, yet all deciduous trees got yellow and stripped down the most of leaves. When I said coming days, I meant I expect weather to get drastically colder very soon, cause these things happen in Montenegro sometimes. We usually have a normal weather for every period of the year, but sometimes we get a week or two of the complete opposite of the usual for the present period of the year. Anyway, my plan is to get 15 hornbeams in a couple of weeks. I got 11 last spring and they did fine, but I've planted them in my garden, not in pots.
