I have a bit of a weird one. I was given a bonsai tree as a present in May just gone, a Ginseng Ficus. It was in an okay state (bought in a DIY store), I watered and fed it and it struggled to grow, but as soon as I repotted it the new shoots started to take off. Fast forward to the present day and it has grown:
The two large shoots also have one smaller shoot per branch.
But the leaves on the new shoots are much further apart, not as dark a green as the leaves on the rest of the tree and are around twice the size of the other leaves. Is this normal or is there something I did / didn't do to encourage this?
I've attached an image to highlight what i'm referring to.

I'm confused. Is this about your bonsai, or about your DIY store ficus?

Ficus Ginseng are grafted. Could be a shoot from the plant on which it is grafted. Can't really see it though, can't see where the shoot is coming from.

Yup. That iis exacty what is happpening. You are getting the original rootstop shooting new leaves. If you leave them on, eventually the grafted smmall leave foliage will most likely be outcompeted.
