In need of help with a dying Juniper. was created by taintedxrobin

I bought this small Juniper 名媛直播 in August from a road side vendor who grew and raised them his self.

In late September it started getting crunchy, and now the middle of October it is being coming discolored. Yellowing and color fading a little more each day.

Not knowing what to due and worried about not having the proper soil, I have bought (it's being sent to me and fertilizer) new soil and going to re-pot it when I get it, as well as check the roots. Maybe I've over watered?

Can anyone please give me tips, advice as to what to do?

The first picture was the first day I brought it home, it remains outside and gets moved around to be in the sun since I live in an over cast area with trees. I've pruned it once to get rid of some browning needles. Now it just looks so sickly. Oh, I have done the truck scratch test and it appears to be still be alive, giving me a little bit of hope left.

The second picture is what it looks like now. :(

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a juniper in this stage does not recover. It died a long time ago, and is now finally dying out.

It is hard to tell whether the guy you bought it from sold you a plant in bad health or not. It could be you overwatered. Hard to tell from pictures.

If you kept it inside then it is no surprise that it is dead.

IT is amazing how often we get these stories and how identical they are.
People buy a juniper from that kind Asian guy, from a car boot or a road side stall and it dies.
It seems it always does. We never see (as far as I can recall) people that come to this forum telling us their plant is doing well, asking for information how to proceed and turn it into a bonsai (what you have, is NOT a bonsai).

Strangely, what people do next is always the same too: they buy soil and fertilizer and want to repot it (which can actually make things worse).

I cannot help you. AS LB wrote, the plant died some time ago already.

What I am wondering though:
The common knowledge about what is bonsai, what they look like, how to take care of them and how you train them is completely wrong. Where does this incorrect idea about bonsai come from?

Yeah unfortunately for Junipers that's too true. Once it looks like that in 90% of all cases it's going to be dead within the next 2 months. Since it's winter an I doubt you live in the southern hemisphere there's no economical way to rescue this tree.

'Crunchy' means dead. Yellowing and fading a little more each day means these parts are dying off.
A juniper will not grow new buds on dead wood.

I'm going to agree with LB: this plant is beyond return. It already died some time ago.

Its probably diving because its inside. Junipers are an outdoor bonsai. I once raised a juniper indoors and it turned the same yellowish color. (I might've over water it) It might've also been over water. Junipers don't like that much water. It might already be dead but if I were you, I would put it outside and wouldn't water it for a bit.

Welcome to the forum.

This as your first post? For next time, please read the posts and do not assume something from a picture. Furthermore, crunchy junipers do not miraculously come back to live.
