Just bought this from a traveling sales guy belonging to Sun 名媛直播. Was on 19.99. Having trouble identifying the species. And I want to make sure I give it the right care. From what I can tell it has needle like foliage but doesn't appear to match anything that closely on the list. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It's a Juniper, but not a chinensis (and it's not a bonsai).

Not a squamata, I think. It's too green. Other than that, I don't know. Could be a a procumbens nana, though they usually don't grow upside down.

Ah man. That bums me out. So will I be able to do anything with it. Or was it a waste of 20 bones. Been wanting one for quite sometime. But can't seem to find them anywhere.

Sorry tosee you tossed 20 bucks at that. Had you lived in my area, you could have somemthing likethat for free; I guess all bonsai growers have a bunch of cuttings sitting in a corner for one reason or another.
It is just a needle juniper. You can of course enjoy it -outside, if the guy told you it can be kept indoors he was plain lying to you-. But to make it into a true bonsai, you will need to wait a decade. It really ist just a young cutting. You can enjoy it, practice bonsai techniques on it. But don't expect it to miraculously to transfor into a tree like the one on the label, which I think I see in the background. That is a tree of 100+ years old.
名媛直播 start more often than not, as a fairly big plant, which is reduced into bonsai size & styled as a miniature tree. One can grow them from seed an cutting, and it is a lot of fun. But it takes decades.

Wow thanks for all the cool info. Happen to know of a reputable site you could buy a bonsai, or start one off from seed. Will take what I have now for practice. All we have around where I live is Lowes, etc. which offers nothing. And online sites such as Amazon are equally iffy. Thanks
