Hi all,
I'm new to this and have a couple questions.
1 what kind of tree do I have.
2 will come once I know what I have.
Thanks

Hard to tell as the photo doesn't show enough details and the leaves are out of shape.
I'm going to guess it is a Carmona.

Typical mallsai with decorative, but undesirable pebbles, unwanted dried moss and a stone. As a bonsai, it has no value.
The wire too is useless, did you put it on there, or was it there already?

Expected livespan from now: 3 - 6 weeks.

It gets little white flowers on it, if that helps.

Carmona.

First, remove the pebbles, and moss, carefully - they may be glued on. Do not disturb the roots. Then make a new picture so we can see the soil.

Does the pot have (a) drainage hole(s) ?

The pot has a place at bottom for excess water. I'll remove moss and stone and send another pic.

Here is a picture of the soil, the rocks were glued in, but moss was loose. No damage to roots.

Ain 't going to happen. In this case, your duckling really is what it is. It won't turn into a swan.

The soil doesn't look very bad, but I think I see signs it has been dried out in the past.
Do not put the pebbles and moss back, leave this as it is now. Reason is that now you can see how wet/dry your soil is.

Follow the care guidelines for

Pay special attention to the watering guidelines. Water thoroughly until water comes out of the drainage hole. Then let the soil dry, but do not let it dry out completely. Empty the drip tray, do not let the pot stand in excess water.

If it doesn't improve, let us know.

I know it may never look like the picture, but I don't want to just let it grow wild either. From researching, I prob don't have the best tree to start and learn from. Wait and see I guess.
