My first bonsai!

Hi guys.
I recently purchased my very first bonsai :woohoo: ! It's a 15 year old small leaved Carmona/Fukien Tea tree grown in Canada and (properly) planted in a rock-planter. Yes, I know, it's already been styled (into a bit too commercial zig-zag shaped trunk), but my idea is to first learn how to properly water and care for a bonsai before playing with the big guns.
Incidentally, I happen to be a rare Japanese orchid collector/grower, and I've learned over the years that it's always better to under-water my orchids than to over-water. So I wonder, do you experts have such a key observation about bonsai watering to share? Also, what are some early signs of trouble that I should watch for? Thanks!
Attached are two photos of my new tree (sorry for boring you with yet another Fukien Tea tree, but I'm too excited :silly: ).

Don't spray, it's pointless - unless when you do it to clean off the dust.
How often do you water them ?
