I did a quick google images search on umbrella trees and the one I THINK is closest to your pic is the Hawaiian Umbrella
As for whether it's a bonsai or not... tricky one. It's up to you to decide.
The general rule is that bonsai imitate the natural trees growing in nature but in a miniature form and in a pot.
So, it ticks all the boxes for me! It's a lovely tree too by btw
(I've been into bonsai for many years but am by no means a professional. I bonsai according to my own artistic interpretations!)

Like many other art forms, bonsai is subjective.
What you think is beautiful may be unattractive to another.
Yes, traditional bonsai has rules and forms and fancy Japanese names that you have to follow, however, if you don't plan on entering your plant into a strict rule following bonsai comp, then, it is in my humble opinion, that whatever plant/shape your eye finds pleasing, then, go ahead with that.
After all, this is your hobby and your plant.

There are very objective guidelines to judge a bonsai. This plant would score 0.

Finding something beautiful or not is NOT a benchmark to decide whether something is a bonsai or not.

Wrong. There are no rules. There are guidelines - that you can break. If a design doesn't follow a guideline, but it does improve the look of the tree, that is perfectly fine.
What I find far more annoying than people that post their first mallsai, is people propagating the idea that any tree in a pot is a bonsai. It is not true. For plants in pot, there's a different word in Japanese.
As you said yourself, bonsai is an art. This is no art, it is just a young plant in a pot, without any bonsai characteristics, without any bonsai shaping or training. This is NOT a bonsai.
That doesn't mean you cannot like it. If you think it is beautiful, that's fine. Just don't call it bonsai.

I bet you would have loved Dr. Gerald Levitt's 'New Easy 名媛直播 Method' videos on Youtube... unfortunately they were removed.
And now I'm off, bonsaiing a banana palm.
