hi, I just rescued a bonsai from the dumpster - poor thing. I have been scouring the website and learning all I can to help restore the bonsai. what I cant find is information telling me how it is that the trees stay small. If anyone would like to explain I would be grateful.]

If you want to rescue this tree, you want to get it healthy, happy and growing first. Then you start thinking about styling it.

They stay small by trimming.
But first things first. Get it healthy. Even if that means the size doubles. First make it strong.
