Good evening to everyone I have just been given quite a big chilli plant ( habanero chilli I think ) from a friend who has a hydroponic growing shop and he has been cultivating it in a growbox since seedling till it was about 1 meter and a half tall but he says it wasnt doing well at all lately so he cut it back to about 40 cm and took it out the grow box to transfer it to a loft with no light . I think he had no more interest in it and as soon as I said that I am venturing in the world of bonsai he gave it to me and challanged me to make one out of it . Although he knows alot about plants he knows nothing about bonsai so I do ask him questions on how to grow plants but for those concerning bonsai I must ask the people on this forum as you have already been very helpful
I understand that it might not be a part of the bonsai culture to bonsai chilli plant
And that they are reffered to as "bonchi" but if anybody has experience with them and desires to help I will be grateful
Here is a photo of the plant
Any thoughts on what to do and does anybody think it is a good specimen to make into a bonsai (bonchi)
Thank you
Nico

i think after you let it grow, it may be very good material, however the thing that worries me is how long the plant can live for.

I'm sure he knows, Bob. Bonchi is just another hobby.
