I just bought this chaenomeles for 3 pounds I saw it from the car in a local superstore and I thought I could make a good bonsai , I didn't know if the plant was suitable because my phone was out of battery so I couldn't look it up but I went with my gut so I brought it home and looked it up , seems to me that I got lucky . Im pretty sure its not a mallsai because it was sold as a garden shrub . It has a nice thick and twisted trunk its about 4 to 5 cm diameter at the base and I checked the roots they are beautifully white, plentiful and hairy and as you can see its full of foliage so what do you think? any advice or information on the species or in this particular plant ?
Thank you
Thank you

I cannot really see the full trunk or the branch structure. Also I find it a bit hard to see what its actual size is.
Some more photos would help, including one with a bottle or lighter or something on it to compare.
