If your climate allows subtropicals, bougainvillea and sundaville would be great options.

In the florida keys go for subtropicals, which are also not easily affected by salt. I am assuming your air is slightly salty.
Bougainville indeed is a good one.
When watering, water by need (Soil is slightly dry) rather than by schedule.
It is dificult for anyone to assess whether a plant is watered sufficiently without looking at the plant/soil/sun/wind conditions...
