Gift tree - I don't know what it is was created by paulpaul

Hi. I was given this tree as a gift. I can't ID with certainty and the person who gave it to me doesn't know what she bought :S I've never had a bonsai before but I am happy to have one now.

Please help me ID this species so I can figure out how to care for it!
