Great news!
The bonsai is now recovering.
I've seen a small leave growing near the tree bark and 4 small buds on the top of the bonsai.
I'm attaching photos of the recovery!
I didn't manage to add a transparent plastic bag to simulate more humidity, but I did however sprayed it 10 days ago with a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide (Topsin—M) all over its branches, torso and bark. I figured might as well try and eliminate any possible illnesses.
As I came from work today and was watering it I noticed the new buds and leaf.
I will keep an eye on it (as I have for the last 6 months — sigh) and post back of how well it will recover.
I'm excited now!
