Please help- Tree ID and care please!

This is my friend's tree. I got it for him for his birthday being told that it was a ficus - I have doubts about this because I have a a fICUs tree and this doesn't look like it at all. It is starting to drop leaves and I am worried it is going to die. If someone knows what kind of tree this is, could they please give me some advice about caring for it? Thank you!

This is a ficus. Note that ficus is actually a plant family, with many, many species in it. You may already have had a ficus benjamina. The one you show here is a different species. Maybe a green-island fig, or a ficus micrcarpa.
Care: Do not move it around too much. Make sure stay slightly moist, but never soaking wet. Give loads of light. Do not place it in too cool a spot (Although on topof a heater is not always ideal).
