First of all, hi, but i think it would be best to find a club and join it. But if you have no club around you then you can just study the same way you did for you degree. Read the artkcles on this website first, the info on these articles will always be used. Caring for the bonsai comes before the style or look. So therefore the health of the tree always comes first. What you can do if you want is get a cutting of a tree you can see outside or seed and see if you can grow it and keep it alive. If itt stays alive then you know you can at least care for a small plant in a pot, if the guy dies, then you may want to do more research. This your choice, so choose what you wish.

I would suggest that you find a book that will get you started. Stick to your native species, you know best what they are. Many of your species grow very well, and your season may be all year. This will allow you to have something quickly. You may be able to find a club, I don't know your locality, but there are clubs in India. Don't believ all you see in the internet, too much is going to be irrelivant for you.
I would be looking to get material that is a good size and which can be worked on. Don't bother with cuttings or seeds sowing unless you want to wait years,
Geoff.
