This tree was collected in an abandoned parking lot, the same one as my elms from a previous post, and was wondering if anyone could help with an id. I'm not sure as to the age of the tree, but it looks like it has some natural aging going on.

Junipers arent my area but if i had to guess i would say probably chinese juniper? Could be wrong though, i think it has just been scarred by the concrete or something, again, may be wrong.

Is a chinese juniper a juniper with scale-like, or needle-like foliage ?

No you don't. The picture shows needle-like foliage, not scale-like.
But this is a bit of a trick question.

Fair point, cant see much from picture but now i can see that it has kind of sticky oity foliage, but i would not say needle, but am leaning to common juniper now, but a close up would be good just to make sure.

It is most likely not but the foliage looks like that of a japanese cedar, but it is not.
