So here is a Tree I have been working on for several months, I am actually very proud of it as it is my first root over rock. I apologize for not having pictures of the rock and roots above ground, but it needs more time underground. There is one thing that I am slightly sad about though, if you look at the picture where my had is holding back some leaves you can see that the main branch broke sometime ago and it is refusing to back bud on that side of the trunk....any suggestions? Also, is there a way to encourage the roots to grab the rock? I have been lacing it to the rock with ribbon and it works fairly well, but I wondered if there was something more I could be doing.

You have to wire the roots onto the rock- wait several years, then take the wire off and the roots will stay stuck to the rock.

There are many ways but the main thing os that you tie the roots onto the rock. Hope this has helped.

The best is to wrap the roots and rock in clingfilm. THat will keep the roots against the roots. Bury the whole think in a big pot so the clingfilm is just above the ground. Make sure you water between clingfilm and rock (!). Then let the plant grow out untill a meter or more tall. Trim back, let it grow. THen you are about 3 years from now, and the roots will have grown into the rock.

Thank you so much Leatherback and Bob .
Would it be best if I waited till next Summer or Spring to re-wrap it since the energy will then be in the trunk and leaves, or is it fine if I do it in the winter while it is all in the roots? which is the best course of action?
Also is it mandatory for me to grow it a meter or more in height??? I rather liked how it looks now and if I grew it out like that it would in all probability no longer look this way yes?
