I just bought a three year old tree. I need help identifying what type it is and how to care for it.
The branches are turning brownish and I don't know the last time it was repotted.
I tried to get some good pictures of the whole tree, the brown leaves and a close out for identification.
Is this an "indoor" tree?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Posted 10 years 4 months ago #12463note: Indoor bonsai is a nice term. But all plants should be kept outside, unless the weather is too cold/wet.
When you say branches are turning brown.. Do you mean the whole branch? Or just the oldest needles?

Thanks for the great info leatherback! The needles that are closest to the base of the branch are turning brown. Do these just need pruned off? Or is this a sign of something larger?

Like I said, I am in the beginning stage of bonsai. I had no clue there was so many different species of bonsai. Plus I figured you just water it and keep it on your coffee table.
That being said, I think my tree just needs a little TLC. So you guys are saying I need to move it outside and water it frequently? What about repotting or fertiling it?

Juniper is drought-preferring.. You should not let it get bone dry, but it certainly hates soggy soil. So keep drier then you normally would allow plants to be
