On the photo I cannot see the branch placement - could be these are branches at the top only, hanging down ?
Still it does look nice - but whether it is worth it very much depends on the price. This is not a top-piece and should not have a top-price.

My problem would be that it sounds as if you are looking at a tree on the internet and not one you have been to see. I wuld be very wary of buying unseen unless it is from a reputable dealer. You are unable to check the soil condition or the roots. or look closely at the tree, and from the size it will cost quite a lot to sned it back if you are not happy. If you are going to collect it then fine.
Where are you in England?
Geoff.

- Nebari has flaws (Otherise there would not be heaps of rocks around the base of the trunk. You only see 1 root, high up on the trunk)
- There seems to be a bulge in the trunk just in the foliage line
- Braching is unclear (Ask for a winter image)
- Trunk-taper seems absent. (One can only imagine a hard cut hiding in the foliage).
My advice:
- Ask for winter image from als least 2 sides
- Ask for clear picture of Nebari
- Check trunk-line for major cuts & verify it has a somewhat decent taper
Perhaps post these images here too for us to have a look.

IMHO that seems far too much. As I said, the tree does have flaws - and while it looks relatively nice now that the leaves are still on, I wonder what's beneath it - could be just a few branches hanging from the top, making developing this tree into a good bonsai very hard.

It is too wide for the height that is for sure, but then it might have been neglected if he is ill.
I think you will have to make up your mind when you go to see it. I would want to take it out of the pot to check the roots, it will be fine as long as the roots are not disturbed. It will also enable you to see the soil condition.
