Plant it in the ground. Let it grow for a while before you put it in a pot.

I agree, but it does depend on how big you want it to be. It is a very young plant, with a thin trunk. Three years growing in the ground will make a big difference. If you can't put it in the ground then a large box or pot will do.

what i do with young plants is wire them wile they are still young, so if you wish to have a bent trunk or trunk or something, then i would suggest to wire while it is still thin. but it is your choice.

Wiring decduous whilsts growing is not a good idea. If the wire bites and marks the bark it will never go and will always look bad. It is far better to clip and grow for shape. But thie first thing needed is a trunk. The trunk will always be bendable for several years so wiring whilst young is also not necessary.
It is quite a nice straight trunk so a formal upright might work

that's why there is such a way of removing the wire before it cuts the trunk, this practice is called "removing wire".

But there is no need to wire in the first place the plant needs to grow.

Everybody to their own methodes.

In order to get extreme bends, one often wires very young plants.

Personally, I try to wire all my deciduous plants during the growing season, because the young branches are pliable (Especially if you let the plant go dry before wiring) and they set within weeks. As the branches will greatly increaase in thickness during the subsequent lifetime, and bark still has to mature, any wire marks disappear. Most of them within the season.

You know it is a completely different plant species right..?

If you want to reach someting along the pic you show..

- Put in the ground. Lift every 3 years to keep roots in check. Besides that, leave to grow untill you ahve a trunk of 10cm thick
- Cut back to 15cm tall. Lett grow untill the new leader ios at least 7cm thick
- cut back to 30cm tall, let grow untill new leader is at least 5cm
- cut back, start working on side-branches & canopy

I would guestimate 15 years before initial styling.
