My tree may need help, at least some guidance. was created by psecody

Hello everyone I've got a tree that I've had for almost a year and it's suddenly not as green and vibrant as it has been and I also wanted to make 100% sure I have this tree ID'd correctly. I recently re potted it about a week and a half ago (beginning of spring) and used lavarocks for the potting medium. I didn't trim any of the roots, instead just cleaned them out of all the old soil then repotted and was done. I've made sure to keep it watered but give it enough time to dry out before watering again because I've read that junipers like to stay on the dryer side. Now from reading and what I see I think I may still be over watering the tree and thats causing the foliage to turn brown and dull green but I'm still wanting to get some other more experienced opinions. I bought it a year ago in May at the Dallas Botanical Gardens (its not my first bonsai by the way, just never had a juniper) I checked the soil when I got it and it really seemed a little too heavy on the organic matter and not as free draining as I thought it should have been but since I read early spring was time for re potting I left it and kept an eye on it and it was fine. I also have not fertilized it this year, I was going to start but have read to wait about a month after re potting before fertilizing. What do ya'll think? Am I worrying over nothing? Should I go ahead and fertilize? Is this really a juniper haha? Sorry for so many questions, I appreciate the forum and any thoughts anyone might have. Also I don't really plan to work on this tree for at least another year or so, I'm just letting it do whatever at the moment and just doing a little maintenance pruning here and there when needed. Sorry for rambling, thanks again. Also sorry for the photo quality, if ya'll need better pics or just want to see more pictures let me know.

Looks like a juniper to me. I use plane old potting mix for my junipers and have never had a problem, maybe mix the lavarocks in if you want to make a bit more free draining.

YUp, seriously struggling this tree. In itself, the lavarock would be fine. And in this medium it is hard to over-water. Make sure you have it in a very bright spot outside, but not in strong wind. Water as normal, probably every 2-3 days, depending on weather.

was the "seriously struggling" comment meant to be sarcastic? I'm sorry I just couldn't tell. Thanks for the replies. So far thats what I'm doing, providing it as much light as I can get it and watering it every few days. Thanks again.
