P.S. You might noticed that i'm not actually give hard advice on what to do with this tree. This is because I actually don't know what is wise to do at this moment for the following reason.
I actually think that this tree's healthy has slowly been degrading ever since you got it, and even before by improper care. It has been in a position where it has not got enough sunlight. It also stood in a pot that held too much water and not enough oxygen. It's probably very root bound because it never had a root-prune since you got it. And you've never fed it until recently. Just imagine how this tree must have felt even before you quite drastically changed it's care program by tossing it over to your dad and now even replaced it to a very different habitat.
Summing this up, I think you are very, very lucky this tree didn't gave up on you yet!
If I where to give you an actual advise on how to safe this tree, probably the wisest thing to do now is to repot it in a larger container on a proper soil mixture without performing any root pruning. I would then add enough bio-gold pebbles and water it thoroughly and place it at the best place for this tree I icould think of considering lighting, humidity, heat etc. Nurture it as much as i can and just hope, and hope that it will survive, because it might actual kill it!

If it helps - mine lives on our bathroom windowsill, SW facing, good light and fairly constant temp, plenty humidity. I think thats what they like, I was a bit unsure about buying it as they are apparently known to be fussy, but wanted an indoor tree to play with.. so far so good. I have been using peat compost with 40/50% perlite for most trees but the Carmona is in peat & Supalite - link below:

Sorry - meant to add - second the advice above re larger pot, don't prune the roots for a good while until the tree looks really healthy

Can't say for sure, and I haven't had a Sageritia but I believe the care routine is very similar - common name is Chinese Bird Plum
