I purchased a metasequoia a few weeks ago. It is about 3ft tall.
When I got it home I took it out of the pot, it was very root bound to say the least.
I pruned some of the larger roots off and removed some foliage at the same time.
I have since repotted it in a mix that is free draining but still holds moisture.
Since it was repotted the foliage has dried out and is falling off.
Do Metasequoias sulk after their first root prune and repot?

Don't know if this applies, but I have grown giant sequoia from seed recently, and read up quite a bit on looking after them as bonsai, I read not to touch the roots, the roots are self restoring and will degrade in the pot and replenish new ones, I also read that they hate root pruning and one should only cut a bit of the root ball off with a saw to make space for new soil. Good luck I hope it is ok.

I know that the giant sequoia don't like their roots being touched much.
Everything I have read about the Metasequoia (dawn redwood) says they need regular root pruning because they grow large roots very fast.
I just can't seem to find any info on wether or not they sulk afterwards.

I have one of these but haven't as yet done any root pruning - mine is getting ready to drop its leaves (deciduous)so it may be that you have just encouraged it to go into winter mode a bit early. I am not aware of any particular issues with root pruning on these, other than you would usually do it it in spring or summer when the tree has most energy to recover..
