I figured I'd put this in here, it hasn't really progressed yet but it will, it's an interesting pine we collected from our back yard woods last year.

That's what I was thinking, but even the larch in my neighbors yard has some green already.

I think it is a larch. It's growing new little branches :). Either that or I'm imagining them by being too hopeful! I have two other pines that lost their needles, they are in the progressions forum. This tree has a really neat twisted trunk. My other needle-less pines are growing little branches also. I got scared by the replies so I went driving around and noticed a lot of pines around here lose their needles. Larch trees turn a really pretty yellow color in the fall, so if it is a larch (or if they are larches) I will feel lucky. :). Thank you for the replies!

It's a larch, just look at the brown needles on the pot, those are not from pines! ;)

Thank you! I'm convincing myself it's a larch. I've been reading a lot of old posts where Hannah (bassandbonsai). Has said, give your tree six months before declaring it dead. And it does have new growth. If I had a better camera than my phone I'd post it. :). I think larch trees must grow in this area in the wild. I recall a few bright yellow pines in the fall. Thank you for your words of encouragement!

Scrub the bark a little bit off: if it's green, it's still alive! Don't give up the hope, I'm sure he'll survive :)
