Hey guys, my chinese maple's leaves are looking odd, they are all sort off spotty, my cousin has a few maples and they look the same, but then he has a few that look perfect too. Im puzzled as all i have been doing is pinching the growth tips and leaving it to grow.. Attached are pics

Hey Jon,
Looks like *rust* ~ a fungal infection. Here's some good info...scroll down to *Fungi/Mildew* and read that whole section including *Rust*
Good luck!

Hi Joncoh,
these spots may be caused by fungus. HOwever, also root-problems mayb have such an effect on them. Check that the roots are healthily growing. The brown tips could be from drying out too, which would point towards root issues.

So yeah, Jon...don't be so hard on yourself. I didn't know what kind of Maple it is. We can know everything all at once y'know. Remember that this is a loooong learning journey that we are on so sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Oh...and don't panic about the fungal infection (if that's what it is). My variegated English Ivy had a few leaves with rusty-brown tips and I just kept trimming them off when they appeared. I haven't seen any for a few weeks now. Just keep trimming the infected leaves off so it doesn't spread and carefully lift it out of the pot to check to see if the roots look healthy...no need to do anything drastic like chopping all the roots off. Take a few deep breaths and let us know what you find, K?
