so, my tiger Bark ficus lost its leaves a little while ago when it started to get cold outside, but I have it indoors under the grow lights.?
It seemed strange with losing all its leaves and not growing any back so I did the check to make sure it was still alive and yes it is green underneath when scratched. No strange smells, etc. are present. ?Not sure what is happening. and do not know what to do or try. I would welcome all advice, etc.
thank you, Carol

How cold was cold? if it was below about 10C then that may have caused the leaf loss. I don't have any tropical species, but I do know the Ficus do not like cold. It may recover in time, but be very careful with watering, and the light is a waste of money as it has no leaves and is therefore not growing and Ficus do not need a lot of light anyway.

It is quite common that ficus drops quite a lot of leafs in winter if kept in livingroom conditions. Normally it fills in again as soon as the tree gets outdoors in late spring and early summer. But if it lost all its leafs, I would not expect it to recover. It is evergreen after all.

I was told to keep it inside as the temps are still in the 50's , while it is starting to go up to the 60's and a 70 here and there. When it gets the springtime temps I will put it outside with my others that had to be inside for winter.

Assuming 50 means Fahrenheit, if lows are 50 it should be outside.

Hi Carol
Let your Tiger Bark Ficus stay in a stable 65-85°F environment, water only when the top inch of soil is dry, and maintain consistent grow light exposure (12-16 hours daily) to encourage new leaf growth.
