hello
One of the branches of the Japanese maple broke off, probably the cat broke it off, how dangerous can this be in winter? Unfortunately, it's -2 -3 degrees at night now.
My other question is that it will be -5 -6 degrees in the coming weeks. Should the pot stay outside in a box lined with jute bags and straw or should I move it to a warmer place? There's a place where I can move it, it's 12-15 degrees.

Do not worry about the branch. BRanches break off.
As for temperature.. Japanese maples can handle long-times of frost. Do not put it at 15 degrees. It is not a tropical and putting it in such a warm place will make it to start growing which is undesirable this time of the year.
-5 is nothing.

-5 Celsius is not cold, it's fine. I read so many places that it's scary, sometimes they say you don't have to worry about the tree freezing anywhere else. Unfortunately, this is my first winter with a maple and I don't want it to freeze.

It does depend on the size of the pot. My small trees shohin and smaller are under cover which keeps the worst off, but the larger trees are out and get whatever comes. -5C is nothing for Acer palmatum, You can always put it under a table or bench for a night or two if it is well below freezing.
