I bought a Harland Boxwood bonsai tree about a month ago. Although it would generally be dormant,?a nursery employee said it would thrive under my grow lights. His point confuses me when?I wonder how the tree can stay healthy if it stays awake when it should rest.
Another problem confuses and worries me. After I accidentally let the tree's soil dry, the leaves folded, and the limbs separated. ?Will water unfold the leaves and return the limbs to where they belong? Should I give the tree to someone who lives in the correct zone?

Nurcery employees are not bonsai or plant experts. They are experts in the logistics of plants and display/sell.
Better ask questions here before purshasing.
Yes, basically all plants can be grown indoors if the conditions is right. This is what makes theese sellers able to claim this without beeing wrong. But the issue is that most people will recieve the message as it can be grown in livingroom conditions, which is absolutely false for most species.
I grow 100s of trees indoors. Some indoor year round in a temperature controlled overwintering room. Some indoor just during winter in an unheated greenhouse. And I actually have a few tropicals in an artificially lit grow tent in my basement. The basement is cool in the night but the light heats it up in the days creating the necessary day-night fluctuations.
