Hello all, I’m very interested in bonsai and have just started getting into it. Luckily my sister has a few plants I can practice on to get started.?
At my house we have a semi large pine tree (around 75cm tall) that has been kept in a small pot for many years resulting a small tree but obviously it hasn’t been trained as a bonsai. I’m wondering if ,once my skills are better,?whether this tree would be suitable to try and train or if it’s too old to try and do anything? For example I imagine the trunk would be too hard to wire or shape.?
Thanks!?

I do not think it is a pinr. I think it is a spruce.
As you mature in the bonsai hobby you can take on more and more complicated projects. This one I would say is medium level. Gor sure it can be done. Your skills may not be enough to do it today, but it may be in the future.

it is not a pine it is a spruce. if the trunk won't bend then leave it as it is. you need to remove branches so that you can see the trunk,
choose a front to get the best view of the trunk, decide how tall you want it and wire the branches to shape. it is impossible to say what else to do until some branches have been removed. o suggest you buy a book and join a club and read about styling
