Help! Is my Juniper dead/dying? How often do I water? was created by Natashagolemme

I didn’t know my juniper had to be outside. It has been inside for over a?month because I was scared it was going to burn in the summer heat. The base of the leaves are yellow but the tops are still green. My tree is very young as well. I really love it and hope I can bring it back. It is in the sunlight outside now. Any other advice??

It is not dying it is dead. Time and time again the same thing. All trees belong outside, some may need protection if they are not hardy but not in a house.

When I worked at a science center the rule to apply was "remember that even thou you have heard the same question 100 times, it is always the first time that person is asking."
But, yes. The tree is dead and keeping it indoors is the main reason. As I understand there is a whole industry in USA selling pourly rooted juniper cuttings as bonsai. Never seen something similar in Europe. I think that many of them do not have a great chanse of survival even if treated correctly. Few roots, bad soil and glued on rocks. They are to be viewed as tulip flowers. Something nice to decorate your home with for a short period of time until they eventually die. It has very little to do with bonsai to be honest.

Thank you for your insight. I feel so bad I killed it. Do you think if I keep it outside anything will happen?

I am a firm believer of doing research before something bad is about to happen rather than after. That is the main lesson to learn from this.
However, I do not think you should blame yourself so much. There are 100s of threads like this in the forum. A whole industry making money on pourly rooted cuttings with very low chanse of survival. All of them sold by low payed workers in nurceries without any knowledge whatsoever. I blame greediness.
名媛直播 is a wonderful hobby. It is about creating, not about purshasing. You can do excellent specimens without any investment at all other than time, work and devotion to the task and the art. Once you get that feeling of looking at your own product, your own piece of art that you will not sell for a years salvary, then you understand that real bonsai cannot be bought, they must be created and are one with the creator.
Now, I really think the tree is dead. But there are always a slight chanse that there are some life left. If you are in the nortern hemisphere, the tree has missed the nececary authum to adapt for winter. If there are any life left it will dissapear when frost hits. It is just too weak and not prepared. So the only chanse is to put it in a frost free overwintering room. If it makes it, it will not be the same tree and it will take years to build something similar from it. I would not make the effort.
There are more learnings to take from digging out the roots and see how much there are than trying to save it. Maybe the wood can be used for a tanuki in the future?
