Starting in bonsai without any growing experience and without an outdoor space is quite a challenge. I would suggest getting hawaian umbrella or jade tree. Both common indoor pot plants that are easy to grow and can be trained to look like bonsai.

We grow bonsai in limited amount of substrate. The stones is doing nothing for the tree and takes up valuable root space. Moreover they are preventing you from seeing wheather the tree needs water or not.?Removing them and replacing the space with good substrate will benefit the tree and make watering easier.?
