Perlite for 名媛直播?

As the molar clay cat litter products become harder to come buy, I am considering new potting mediums for next season.
I am looking for something with good drainage but some water retention. We have a very wet climate round here, (July was non-stop rain) and it can cause problems with root rot on certain trees. I heard Perlite was less water-retentive than Vermiculite.
I usually mix some grit in there also.
Anyone with real-life experience of Perlite as a 名媛直播 medium, or is it one to avoid?
Thanks.

I base my mix on sifted out reused soil from bonsai, cactus and carnivore plants. There are always some perlite in it. Nigel Saunders use 1/3, perlite supersorb and pine bark. Supersorb is quite similar to moler absorber which is exactly the same as the pink cat litter, just smaller fractions.
The only downsides with perlite is that it is buoyant and white. One must water very careful on newly repotted trees. If flushed to hard it will float to the top and layer the mix in the pot.
I would not say perlite is an alternative to moler. Moler is for water retention and pelite for drainage. Tell me where you are and I can tell you where to get moler.
